Bio Summary

Tim is Director of Clinical and Computational Research and an Abbott Volwiler Research Fellow.  He also serves as Chair of the Scientific Research Review Committee for investigator-initiated studies supported by Abbott Diabetes Care. His major areas of expertise are clinical trial design and real-world data analysis. Current focus areas include the clinical trial strategy for Abbott Diabetes Care, including those with external academic and industry partners, and computational analysis of real-weal world data and models for understanding the relationship between glucose and glycated hemoglobin.

 

Tim joined Abbott in 2006 and has held previous positions as a Senior Systems Engineer and Abbott Volwiler Associate Research Fellow. During this time, he focused on products for people with diabetes and their care providers, with an expertise in signal processing, system design, and clinical research data analysis.

 

Dr. Dunn earned his doctorate in bioengineering from the Joint Graduate Group in Bioengineering at University ofCalifornia Berkeley and University of California San Francisco, received aManagement of Technology certificate from the Haas School of Business.  Prior to graduate school, he was a research engineer with Cygnus, as a team member that developed the first continuous, non-invasive glucose monitoring device to receive Food and Drug Administration clearance.  He has authored orco-authored over 90 peer-reviewed scientific publications and proceedings and been granted over 90 patents.
