Pedro Miranda Afonso is a final-year PhD candidate in Biostatistics at Erasmus University Medical Center. His research focuses on developing advanced statistical methods for longitudinal and time-to-event data in observational studies. He is a co-author of the R package JMbayes2, widely used for joint modeling. Pedro has contributed to multiple international collaborations, published in leading biostatistical and medical journals, and received awards from the International Society for Clinical Biostatistics and the Statistical Portuguese Society. He is also actively involved in teaching and mentoring, delivering courses on joint modeling and other statistical methods.
