Bio Summary
Research Director of the Section of Paediatric Diabetes and Endocrinology at Baylor College of Medicine (Houston, TX, USA). Her research combines several major precision medicine projects in paediatric diabetes. His work ranges from identifying genetic and environmental causes to investigating how to harness these factors for prevention, diagnosis and treatment. ‘The unifying theme that interests me is the heterogeneity of type 1 diabetes and how to understand it in order to apply precision medicine.’ He completed his medical training and a clinical fellowship in Endocrinology, Metabolism and Nutrition in Madrid (Spain) and later worked with George Eisenbarth at the Barbara Davis Children's Diabetes Center in Aurora (Colorado, USA).
