Bio Summary

Full Professor in Control and Biomedical Engineering. Director, UdG-DEXCOM Chair on Applications of Artificial Intelligence to Diabetes. DeputyDirector, Research Institute on Informatics and Applications, University of Girona (UdG), Spain.

Doctor in Electrical Engineering and has focused his research on technologies applied to diabetes, most notably on the development of the artificial pancreas. His areas of expertise include machine learning applied to biomedicine, modelling and control in biomedical systems, and fault diagnosis in complex systems. He is the author of more than 150 papers in international journals and has participated in the publication of 12 books and book chapters.In 2000, he founded the ‘Modal Intervals and Engineering Control Laboratory’(MiceLab), recognised since 2005 as a Consolidated Research Group by theGeneralitat de Catalunya. Since 2018, he is part of the Center for BiomedicalResearch Network on Diabetes and Associated Metabolic Diseases (CIBERDEM).

Recently, the UdG and the company DEXCOM have launched the first chair in artificial intelligence applied to Diabetes, with Dr. Vehí as director, consolidating its leadership in the application of advanced technologies to improve the quality of life of people with Diabetes.
