His interests span a wide range, from studying the mechanisms for beta-cell dysfunction in minority populations to preventing acute and chronic diabetic complications. His work also focuses on the hospital management of patients with diabetes and hyperglycemia. He has shared his findings through more than 500 scientific manuscripts and book chapters and has presented over 550 research abstracts at national and international scientific meetings.
